3 Key Issues Every e-Commerce Business Needs to Address

e-Commerce

In recent years, e-Commerce has eliminated a lot of barriers for aspiring business owners. Everyone can just easily sell on Amazon, eBay or create their self-hosted website. It has become easier to set up an online shop and market goods across the globe. However, staying on top of the e-Commerce business is not as easy as setting it up. Here are 3 common issues that online retailers need to address right now, and what they can do about them.

  • US retailers missing out on global expansion opportunities. A known advantage of an online shop over brick and mortar business is the ability to expand geographical borders. Unfortunately, US small businesses are not doing a lot to reach global online shoppers. In particular, some American retailers are not tailoring the shopping experience to customers outside their locale. They neither translate their website copy from English nor list foreign currency options.
  • Tech-related issues. One of the biggest obstacles of every e-Commerce business is the abandoned shopping carts. Although unexpected checkout costs is the most common cause of abandonment, tech-related issues also top the list. Online shoppers leave websites without completing their intended purchase due to payment security concerns, website navigation, loading issues, and length or difficulty of the checkout process. To address these issues, businesses should create a responsive website and give consumers the ability to save carts for later.
  • Security breaches. Consumers avoid online retailers with history of security breaches. In the modern world of retail, data breaches are becoming too common and have a negative effect on consumer perception. Some shoppers avoid merchants that have been affected by security breaches. Others steer clear of online shopping due to that fear. Retailers could avoid these security breaches by investing on better technologies.

These e-Commerce issues can hinder the success of aspiring business owners. After setting up an online shop, it is important to stay on top of the business. This can only be achieved by knowing what the key e-Commerce issues are and what they can do to address them.
